This trilogy is packed with cliches and the plot is awful!
Rape, effective human sacrifice (albeit voluntary suicide) to appease "the Gods" --
etc. Every Greek-Roman-Celtic etc. myth imaginable is woven into
the improbable and convoluted plot. Horrible! Save time and just
read Kay's later work (excellent!).

An excellent fantasy story of epic proportions.

The interweaving of myth and new story is very well done. Not everything turned out exactly as I may have wished, but most of the ending was satisfactory (except that I don't think the potential love interest between ___ and ____ at the end worked out completely - there really was not much to point toward it before). All in all, it was a good fantasy trilogy that I enjoyed reading.

This is a very interesting series; I don't think I would call it great literature, but still a good read for fantasy lovers..Everything is neatly tied togeter at the end.

This outstanding trilogy combines emotion with wonderful prose. Read slowly and carefully because the prose is such that you don't want to overlook its depth. If you turn to audiobooks, choose those by Simon Vance who does awesomely with each book in the series. In this final book in the trilogy each earthling finds a role in the Tapestry design representing the world of Finovar.

Fionavar poses as an ideal version of our world as focusing on aspects of religion, myth, and literature. One reviewer believes that Paul on the Summer Tree becomes Odin. And, when Kevin sacrifices himself, his actions mirrors Adonis. Dave is outstanding battle soldier while Kim becomes a respected and honored Seer.

Jennifer resists the Unraveller and bears his child, setting the boy free to fulfill his destiny. She also becomes Arthur's Guinevere.

The book summarizes all of the tales of the trilogy with the earthlings involved in the plot, fulfilling various roles. All in all it's a great ending to Kay's magical series.
