This was a really solid installation of the series. Not as much sex as the earlier novels, more character development. The heroine, Riley, is one seriously kick-butt type of girl. Highly recommend!

Keri Arthur does it again with another top notch book. And I agree with the first reviewer that this book was a nice surprise from the other novels. While I like intimate action, I also like the plot to have a good amount of action too. This book certainly qualfies. Two thumbs up!

So this is book six in a nine book series about Riley Jenson, werewolf/vampire and bad guy hunter. I really feel that these should be read in order if at all possible--there is something of an overarching plot as well as a lot of character developement.
In this book Riley is again tackling two seperate bad guys. One, and intestine eating vampire out for revenge against the people that tormented him when he was a teen. The other, a cat shifter who is swallowing the souls of her human prey and taking on their form. First of all, the two villain thing has become something of a formula for these books. I get that the author is trying to show how caotic Riley's life is and at the same time, involve all the main characters as much as possible. Even if I suspend the disbelief that two separate and apparently rare evil doers could fall under one gaurdian's radar at the same time, I'd still be bothered by how disjointed the plot becomes as a result. Yes, I was happey to see Rhoan and Liander, and watch their relationship evolve. Yes, I was pleased that Quinn returned. The author did a good job of showing Riley's developement and shifting world view, even in the midst of the rushing plot. But I would have appreciated a few more quiet moments, maybe just one less villain.
My other comment is that while the plot of the individual book is fast paced, if I at the series wide plot I'm forced to call it slow. If you break it down and look only at what actually changes in Riley's life and how the continuity is altered, you will see changes from book one to this point but they're pretty small. Yes, her character has developed and the way she sees things has altered. And she has a few extra powers. But it's nowhere near the changes I would expect over a six book period.
Overall, I liked this book. I like this series. I will, of course, go on to read the rest. If you're an urban fantasy fan, I think you'll enjoy it too. The series has it's good points and bad points, but it's worth checking out.

I think this was the best of the series so far! The author has done a great job of building the character of Riley and I can hardly wait for the next installment. :-)

good series, the sex gets boring, but themes are interesting. Like her charactar
I LOVE this series but it took me a while to get into the book, it was a great read and I will def read more. The last third of the book was awesome....
Good book, better than book 5. Riley's dealing with her breakup with Kellan, we get to know Liander better, and finally see Quinn again. Story was a little predictable but more entertaining than the last book or two. Not as much sex as previous books but didn't detract from the entertainment factor. Three stars.
Great followup. How does she do it? Gets you hooked on this series and continues to get better

The 6th book in a series, this one seemed a little boring, although just as well written as the others. I think the author is just not as interested in her girl Riley Jensen as she was when she started this series.
Great book, like her others, really enjoyed it.

all I can say is QUINN IS BACK!!! As with every one of Arthur's Riley Jensen books, I loved this story. Finished in 2 days.
Finally! I've been wondering why I bothered reading this series. It's a decent read, but I wasn't enjoying it...just reading cause it wasn't bad enough to toss. Well, this one was the first in the series that I actually didn't dislike. I've been rating them all 3.5 stars, because the writing is engrossing, if a little repetative. I didn't like this enough to give it 4 stars, but it definitely took a turn for the better. The story wasn't quite as obvious and not as disgustingly dark...more normal for a paranormal. This isn't a romance; it's a suspense, btw. Though previous books had more sex than this one, I think this one was much better done; it didn't need graphic or ugly sex abuse ick - I think the author finally matured a little!
