This audio book was a gift, and chosen primarily because of the golden retriever theme, since I love goldens. I have to admit I do not believe I have ever read Koontz, nor will I again. The basic premise for the story line is good and the information and descriptions of goldens is wonderful. Throughout the story, however, there are VERY disturbing though processes, scenes and information shared that are unneccessary and serve only to promote child abuse (to the extreme of murder), senseless violence, including murder of people and animals, and deviant sex. I am disappointed that such a prestigous author in today's day and age has taken such an approach.
