I loved this book, I was pulled in from the beginning.
Nathan is a prepper. When an EMP happens he is near Atlanta, far away from his group in Idaho and he is left stranded and on foot. He joins together with a group of people at a convenience store/casino/restaurant. He helps them learn what is going on and how to deal with it. However, his goal is to head home to his group.
The characters are well developed, it was easy to get to know them and like them. I love his dog Ares, who is a very smart and well-trained dog. Even though it is not a comedy, I found myself laughing several times. By the time I was done with it I had the second book in hand and ready to start reading. It is one of the best apocalyptic books I have read recently.
