Finally, Feehan has written a Carpathian book whose heroine is moderately full-figured and who is beyond the age of 23. Antonietta is a 37 world reknowed blind concert pianist who lives in an old family castle with an assortment of relatives. Her lifemate is Byron who is drawn to her music, spending many nights with her while she plays for him. Unlike the other Carpathaian novels, he is not a hunter but a master jeweler, able to create exquisite jewelry out of gems, gold and silver. The story is well plotted with all the family characters' interactions as well as a mystery as to who was trying to kill off members of the family. Antoinetta is a refreshing character. Byron is like many of the other Carpathian males except he doesn't hunt. Well worth reading!

This was one of my favorite in the series. The story is sweet and compelling; the heroine is strong and unique. I loved this one, read it twice. I love the whole series, but this one is definitely tops!

Great book! I loved Byron when we first met him and was anxious to read his story and I wasn't disappointed. Intricate plot, lots of characters, but a great read.

I did like the book, though the characters were not as "deep" as some of her others.

About the same as the others in this series, an easy read. The story line in this one diverges a bit and that's nice.

This is one of my favorite sequels to the Carpathian novels. I especially enjoyed the mystery and intrigue of the provocative Scarletti Family. A loving and forgiving family which shares a loyalty to each other that cannot be broken by outsiders and is freely given to those who have proven themselves to be true friends or servants.

Antonietta Scarletti guards the family secrets, fears the Scarletti Curse, and runs the family business...made all the more difficult by her blindness. In addition, she is a concert pianist who's passionate music has drawn Byron to her. Descended from a long line of psychics, she has learned to "see" the world through her other senses but nothing could have prepared her for Byron, Carpathian male and vampire hunter.

I really enjoyed the characters of Byron and Antonietta. The development of their relationship makes for some wonderfully romantic reading. However, other Scarlatti family members are some of the most obnoxious fictional folks I have met in a long while. There were instances when I wished someone would murder them! The plot has some unusual twists and surprises, which makes this novel just as unusual as Ms. Feehan's earlier ones.

I really enjoyed this book. Lots of intrigue and the unusual characters in the story were quite believable. I will be looking for more books by Christine Feehan.

I thought before I read this that I would truly love these characters. Antoinetta is blind and Byron was not the typical Carpathian hunter that are in most of Feehan's books. I was a little disappointed by their courting. But when their relationship finally left the "friendship" stage...I was enthralled. He shares beautiful moments of sight with her that swept me off my feet. I was so impressed with these moments, that I forgot about the dislikes. If you are reading the whole series, you cannot leave this one out. If you are new to the series, I would recommend other books first to understand the "normal" mating rituals of the more powerful hunters with their lifemates first.

In Dark Symphony you will read more about the Jacguar race that is in Antonietta Scarletti family, and more of the history of how the Jacguar came to be in the Scarletti family.
I loved the book, but then anything Christine Feehan writes is worth reading to me

Byron, a Carpathian male and hunter of the vampire follows the sound of compelling music to Italy. There he discovers his lifemate, Antoinetta Scarletti, heiress to the great Scarletti fortune. A renowned concert pianist, Antoinetta is the glue that holds the Scarletti family together. Blinded in an explosion that killed her parents, she nevertheless stands to run the family shipping business.

Antoinetta lives in the palazzo della morte, the palace of death. There, like her ancestors, she finds someone wants her dead. Antoinetta has a few secrets of her own and together, Byron and Antoinetta face the killers and one out of control Carpathian youth.

He was Carpathian, a species as old as time. He could shift shape and soar high, run with the wolves, yet without light to his darkness, he could so easily give in to the whispers of temptation, the call for power and turn whooly evil-to become the undead, as many of his kind had chosen to do. He traveles the world, hunting the vampire, seeking to maintain a balence of life in a world of bleak loneliness. And then he heard the music...

Blinded and scarred in a terrible accident, Antonietta Scarletti made music that thrilled the world with its beauty and passion. Descended from a long line of psychics, Antonietta has learned to rely on her other senses to "see" the world around her, but nothing could have prepared her for Byron. He came to her, drawn by her music, and became her secret obsession. Others fear him, sensing that he is dangerous-a predator-but for Antonietta he is her ultimate fantasy, her dream lover. He woos her with kisses full of erotic allure, whispering that she is his light, his salvation. Bryon has waited an eternity for her, and he will let nothing stand between him and the woman born to be his lifemate..

In the continuing saga of the world of the Carpathians, Byron Justicano has found his lifemate: Antonietta Scarletti. Antonietta was blinded in a terrible accident when she was five, the same accident that killed both of her parents. In spite of her blindness, she is a famous musician. Byron is drawn to her music. Unfortunately, someone is trying to kill Antonietta and members of her family. It is up to Byron and Antonietta to unravel the mystery. As this series continues, I like to see characters from previous books enter into the story line. It enhances the view of the world of the Carpathians. You definitely want to read these books in order!

Part of the Feehan Vampire series, but it's best read after reading her Scarletti's Curse novel. You get a better feeling for the situation by reading the other novel first.

After having read 6 of the "Dark" series, this is the one I like best so far. Very good, detailed story that has an interesting sub-plot. If you like Feehan, you will love this book.

If you like books about the supernatural, you will like this one. It combines a character with psychic powers with a character who is a shape shifter. It is characteristic of Christine Feehans romances.
