Unnerving details about the Kennedy family and the one thousand days of the Kennedy administration. Some of the things we thought we knew, and many of the things we never had a clue about, are detailed in this book. The author has included many previously unpublished facts, gotten through the Freedom of Information act, and the results are shocking. A truly amazing book, it will keep you riveted until you finish it.

Meticulous investigation of Kennedy has revealed a wealth of indiscretions and malfeasance, ranging from frequent liaisons with prostitutes and mistresses to the attempted assassination of Fidel Castro to involvement in organized crime. Though scandals in the White House are nothing new, Hersh maintains that Kennedy's activities went beyond minor abuses of power and personal indulgences: they threatened the security of the nation--particularly in the realm of foreign policy--and the integrity of the office.

Does for the Kennedy clan what Kitty Kelley did for the Bushes (and it sounds like there may be some similarities in their obsessions with covering up inconvenient facts). Takes on the whole family, not just one member.

Disturbing....really gives the Kennedys a black eye. I don't know if this is all entirely true but it certainly is incriminating.
This books offer an enlightened perspective to the Kennedy political influence with the U.S. The author is very thorough with his investigation.
According to this, every rumor ever made about him was true, of course he says that without really saying that.
Another good Kennedy Family novel.
The book makes you want to believe there was a conspiracy to kill John Kennedy, even though the author disagrees. Further, the book makes you want to know who conspired to kill him, so you can write and thank them.
If Kennedy hadn't been killed, there was an excellent chance he would be reelected. Then Robert Kennedy, just as amoral as his older brother, might have been president for another eight years, as the Kennedys were conspiring to replace Johnson on the ticket, with Robert Kennedy being his brother's new vice-presidential candidate. What is interesting, is they were leaking to the Republicans sordid details about pay-offs to Johnson which paled compared to the pay-offs the Kennedys were receiving.
What I also found interesting in that Vietnamese President Diem supposedly wanted Americans out of Viet Nam in 1963, but Kennedy, realizing it would hurt his chances to be reelected, wanted to postpone that until 1965, after he had been reelected.
As a result, I and so many others got to take an all-expense-paid vacation in Southeast Asia. The fact that God alone knows how many people were killed or injured in some way didn't seem to bother Kennedy and his brother Robert.
Read this book and discover how the Kennedy administration makes recent presidential administrations look good by comparison. If that is possible.
