I have read several of Dean Kootnz's books and this to me is one of if not his best. I enjoyed it from start to finish. It may make you rethink some of your opinions of our Government. At the end of the book in a section named Afterward, Mr Kootnz gives details on happenings mentioned in the story, it in it's self is enlightening, especially about the Asset Forfiture Laws and our (beloved?) Congress. Also a short mention of the Branch Davidian event and the fiasco at Ruby Ridge with the Weaver family.

Spencer Grant is on the run from a nameless, violent government agency. His goal is to keep away from his pursuers long enough to find the woman he met the night before, who appears to be their real target. With his dog,Rocky, Spencer leads the killers on a frustrating chase.

It is difficult to imagine a reader who won't be hooked by this thriller about goverment power run amok and a man and woman on the run from the madman who wields that power. Unrelenting excitement, truly memorable characters, and ample food for thought.

I did not find this book exciting, entertaining, and thoughtful as did The Denver Post. I found it too long and drawn out. It was too discriptive. Wish I would have spent my time reading something else.

This book starts out very good and had many twists and turns to keep me fascinated. But then the length started taking its toll and hurting the story line I couldn't wait to finish it so I could put it back on the bookshelf. Then when I finally did finish the book I was totally unsatisfied by the ending.
