I read this book without having read the first four in the series. It does reference the other books but it can be read as a stand alone. Lots of action and romance and a very interesting story line. A strong female lead, a tortured love interest and a bad guy that is truly easy to hate. Anybody who likes paranormal romances will like this very well written book.

AWESOME!! and heartwrenching. It made me cry more than once. So far, I think this is my favorite of the series. I just love Ian what a poor tortured soul. His tory just about ribbed my heart out. It kinda reminded me of Acheron. Sixty six years as a captive of a sadistic demon. How he survived is truly a miracle. Sam Rose is a spectacular heroine and a slayer to boot. Their "romance" was volatile and sexy. The sex scenes were something else and rather violent and uncontrollable.
It's like a family reunion -- Brie and Aidan, Tabby and MacLeod and even Allie make an appearance to help fight the demon from hell. Simply wonderful!

I enjoy this book tremedously. It was great to tie up ends from the other 4 books though we are still up in the air as to everything about Nick ( the super sexy boss of Sam)and also the back story about his secretary, Jan. I received the book one day and ignored the world until I had finished it.
Brenda Joyce's Master of Time series always features a totally viril man, this one wears a steel ring on his private, and was tortured for years. Reminds me of another author who features totally tortured heros...but at least she keeps those details to a minimum. It was hard to find much of this story to be unique, more like her spin on supernaturals because they're selling.
This book was HOT! Brenda Joyce does a wonderful job in this whole series. Great story line... I would recommend that you read the series in order before reading this. This book is based on Aidan's(From Dark Embrace)son in the future, and it explains a lot of what he went through when he was kidnapped as a child back in "Dark Embrace".
WARNING: This is not for the faint hearted. :)

I have read and liked all of Brenda Joyce's "Masters of Time" series, some more than others. Of all of them, this one is my favorite. I read it cover to cover in less than 24 hours. Highly recommended!
