A great read! Ms. Jones has a novel situation, and a great ear for realistic dialog in unreal situations. I mean, when the siblings (some human, some griffin) start squabbling about whose turn it is to play Dark Lord, it really rings true. Read it again and again.

What can you do when a man from another universe with a demon in his pocket hands you a book of rules where 'all Wizard Guides must have beards' and 'a Dark Lord's Citadel must always be a black castle with a labyrinthine interior lit by baleful fires' so that the Pilgrim Parties will have the appropriate experience when they visit on a package holiday that is tearing your world apart? Wizard Derk has been chosen as this year's Dark Lord, and he and his family are destined to find out how to stop Mr.Chesney through one well-timed near disaster after another.

This is a fun fantasy adventure. There's a large cast of interesting characters, including plenty of griffins and dragons.

This book is by far the most unique story I've ever read before. People from another world enter a magical one, but they are not given the real story. It is made to appear as if it is much more evil for the sake of the tourists' entertainment. The characters are perfect, I have reread this book many times!

I love the protagonist in this story. The evil businessman is almost too close to the modern enemy for comfort. The griffin characters were great, as well as the way they were part of the family.
All in all, another fine example of Diana's work.

A very enjoyable read. This is magic/fantasy with the tiniest twist of sci-fi. It's done quite ingeniously. The reading level says 9 to 12 ... but, I'm 27 and still enjoyed it immensely.
