The characters and premise behind this book are excellent. I had a hard time putting it down. Aidan has betrayed the Brotherhood. Aidan is gorgeous. They just don't make men like that anymore.

Maybe there's something wrong with me, but lately it seems like my favorite romance authors are getting a little bit lazy and have stopped writing books that make me yearn for more, this book is no exception.
Joyce revisits her Masters of Time Series with Aiden, the Wolf of Awe and, and with the murder of his son by his father Moray we find him a bitter man filled with rage and the desire to die. Brie Rose is an empath who feels the pain from Aiden across centuries (he is a highland warrior, she a modern day New Yorker). Based on a prior meeting she thinks she is in love with him but believes herself to be too plain and boring to receive love in return.
Blah, blah, blah he finds her, she tries to heal his pain etc. Am I the only one that thinks this plot has been done before? My biggest problem with this book is that I really liked the Aiden of prior books and would have liked to see more of him, but the plot of this novel only showed us the wimpy man that was so hurt all he cared for was death and destruction. Brie's love was so blind and I'm not sure what it was really based on, it just came out of no where and seemed a little undeveloped to me. I just couldn't get into it that well. The ending has some redeeming qualities, but overall I would just wait until you can check it out at the library. I really like a lot of her prior books, but this one fell short for me.

My first complete BJ novel...The cover mentions this is the 1st in the Rose trilogy, but I didn't realize this was also the 3rd in the Master of time series until After I'd started the book... Having not read the other two, there were a few references I didn't get, but they didn't really alter the story at all. Rather, they made me more interested in reading the first two books!
Over all this was a pretty good book, though the Heroine does do quite a bit of the chasing, which I'm usually not a fan of. Also the Hero's turn around from denying his feelings to accepting them, wasn't nearly as emotional as it could have been, esp considering how hard he fought against them (and the heroine). And more groveling (or any) would have been nice. Another thing that bugged me, He was an ass to the heroine for quite a bit of the book, so when he finally decides she's the one, He's surprised that she doesn't believe him right away? Also the Hero could be (understandably) frustratingly stubborn (and a bit dense, IMO) by sticking to his plan, and unwilling to let anything get in his way,(though gotta love his jealous moments!) and all the hot highlander goodness only adds to the story :)
For the most part, the heroine was a pretty strong lead(no overemotional miss, this. Like I said, the H was quite a bit of an ass to her, but she wouldn't let that stop her from her course, despite the hurt feelings).
The bad guy was a pretty good one as well, though I wish his comeuppance was a bit more severe. After the stuff he did to his son, it would have been nice to see the Hero (said son) get his own back by dealing a nice violent end for his not so dear old dad.
But like I said, A pretty good book, though not keeper worthy.

Non stop action, erotic, great storyline. I plan on catching up on the rest of the "Masters of Time" series and continue reading the "Rose" Trilogy.

OK what can I say but really well written and enjoyable to read the series.
Hope Brenda Joyce add more to this series.

While I loved the other books in this series, this one just didn't compare. It was so boring, I skimmed the book in hopes that maybe it would get better, but never did. I have the next one, please, please let it be better!

The third book in a series, DARK EMBRACE would best be enjoyed if the two previous books in The Masters Of Times series have
been read -- readers need to be familiar with Joyce's alternate universe to fully appreciate the very rapid actions
of characters and plot development. That said; you will no doubt enjoy DARK EMBRACE!

Closest series to Karen Marie Moning that I've seen. Interconnected books with time travel, powers, alpha males and a variety of females who are smart and tough. Entertaining if not the best books ever written. Escapism!
I loved the use of magic in the book. I also loved the fact that the female lead wasn't a pushover. Strong women and strong men. Awesome.
Very different and interesting series. Worth a read for sure!
I love this book! I love the entire series. Strong heroine. The book gives great descriptions about surronding and events without overdoing it. Was easy to read.
Most of the books are a little slow at start. But now I figured out why, I already know them...I want to read the good stuff and skip the middle. But really the middle is the caring part, that makes you cry and feel for each character. This series is a good read and I laugh at the fact that i cannot figure out how they will find each other. I KNOW they will but I don't know how they make it back...It is a love story with some great steamy ADULT moments...good read, good series...
Couldn't read it, first it says on the back it is book one of the series, and apparently is book three instead...and then the first two pages of the book begin with the mutilation of a small child. I have read some seriously messed up books in my time, but the first two pages, really!! The book order mess-up also turned me off, as it does say it's the first on the back description. Just my opinion, but am not going to bother finishing this one.
This is a great read. Brie is the sweet girl who somehow tries to save the forsaken Aidan She has the patience of a saint, which we can all relate to....

love this book. couldn't put it down. can't wait for the next one!
Loved this book!! Aiden is so hot and his bad-boy exterior oozes sexuality and the promise of unforgetable passion! The one time playboy is scarred over the death of his son and vows revenge in any manner possible. His heart has turned to stone and he no longer believes in the gods. He curses them. It seems hopeless for Aiden until the Rose woman with a compassionate and loving heart finds him and vows she will never give up on Aiden. She is his salvation and she knows it! She definitely has her work cut out for her, but Brianna knows her love is strong enough to break through his tough exterior and his heart of blackness.
My favorite book in the Masters of Time Series so far! I am in love :)

Aidan, the Wolf of Awe, has abandoned the Brotherhood and forsaken his vows. Feared by all and trusted by none, he hunts alone, seeking vengeance against the evil that destroyed his son. He has not saved an Innocent in 66 years--until he hears Brianna Rose's scream of terror across centuries, and leaps to modern-day Manhattan to rescue her...
Brie is a gifted empath who spends her time fighting evil from the safety of her laptop--and fantasizing about te medieval Highlander she met just once. Still, her life is pretty ordinary--until she awakens one night consumed w/ Aidan's pain and rage. When Aidan suddenly appears and takes her hostage, Brie cannot believe how dark and dangerous he has become. She knows she should be afraid, but instead, she will fight across time for his redemption...and his love.
