This was my first time reading a book by Jo Beverley and my first time reading a book set in the 12th century. I absolutely loved it. It wasn't so "smushy" as I call some romance novels and I will be reading the rest of this series and more of Ms. Beverley!

Jo Beverly is an excellent writer. This is a reissue of an earlier work from 1993 when she was writing Midievil rather than regency romance. As always, an entertaining story of passion and adventure.

Generally 16 year old maidens are a bit too "dithersome" for me. But Beverley did a great job of creating realistic characters. Plus I love those ancient tales of love and drama.
Fast-paced love story. Heroine flees when brutal lord invades & takes over her castle, she turns to a ruthless champion to help her.
