I'm going to be honest here, I found this book to be quite boring. I read this book as fast as I could just so I could move on to something more exciting! When I was about 1/2 way through, I was discussing the book with my friend. I remarked on the fact that Chloe was actually quite a dull character, with few emotions, hope or dreams. I assumed that was a technique used by the author to contrast with the new and 'daring' Chloe to come. Yet, that Chloe never really came. Yes, she did more "activities", but she still seemed like a really flat character to me. I also never really became attached to any of the other characters as well, especially Becca (I found her quite annoying).

I guess if you wanted to read a book about a perfectly normal life, taking a perfectly normal vacation (that millions have taken before), without any surprises, wacky adventures, or great revelations, then this is the book for you.

After the first couple chapters, the book is a little slow until the adventure in Paris begins...a better title might be "challenging Chloe" as there isn't much daring about the book rather Chloe doing different activities to stretch her as a person.

As a past Paris tourist though, I loved revisiting all the sights of the city!

I'm about 60 pages from the end and I guess I'm just boring 'cause I relate to Chloe..I've made some of the same mistakes and no way I'd be caught doing any crazy adventures and a trip to Paris would definitely be a step out of the box for me! I'd still be reading if I hadn't been starving(esp after the eating in Paris I just read!)I love the book club they have where they meet and discuss books. This time they're adding the twist of an adventure of some kind, that ties in with the book(s) and the last trip is Paris. I love the mention of the books they're reading and tying in old movies..The Phoebe books(Dreaming in Black & White and Dreaming in Technicolor already sparked the movie interest!). I'm not wild about Becca either and I think the 3rd book is her story. Not much is mentioned about many of the characters other than they're all pretty different- 2 are daredevils, another sort of naive and into fashion more than anything else, Chloe the timid. Anyways, I'm liking this one quite a bit though probably more for the book and movie discussions than the characters.

Book picked up immensely once reliable Chloe set off for Paris with her book club friends. Up to that point, I had a hard time keeping the pages turning.

I actually liked this book the whole way through. Maybe because i'm single, I can relate to Chloe more, I dunno but I loved all the characters, and her aunt Tess seems like someone I could hang out with lol. Love it when they get to Paris (taking the long short cut). Highly recommended!!! :)

When we meet Chloe, she is far from daring! But she gets a big wakeup call one night - the night before her wedding, well early morning of her wedding, at 1:33 am, she gets a text from her finance that the wedding is off! She has always seen herself as a boring, follow the rules person, and her sister as the perfect, can do no wrong one. From reading the blurb at the back, I knew her friends, the Getaway Girls, were going to have Chloe take the already paid for honeymoon trip anyway. But the book was not one of those predicatable ones where she met a new love on the trip! no, indeed. First of all, the "getaway girls" are the members of a book club. Secondly, they aren't all young. In fact two of the members are mother and daughter. I enjoyed the various activities the book club explored and the way Chloe learned to step out in faith and trust God more through this book. I liked the interaction between the women who were at various points in their lives. Although her sister is not a member of the book club, we also see Chloe's relationship with her sister deepen and be more realistic. And the best part might be that there are two more books in the series, each letting us see more about all of the members of the club, but focusing on one in each book.
