This was not my favorite book of short stories, there were a few gems but many I just couldn't wrap my arms around. I do expect a lot from Margaret Atwood, so it's possible I just expected too much.
Short stories centered on young women surviving basically on their own. Themes embrace life's little problems: a shared loo and the problems of renting, violence, rape, stalking, the hazards of travel, tourism, Armageddon, intimate relationships, and fantasy. It is a good introduction, or supplement, to most of her novels.
