This was quite an interesting mystery with lots of twists and a real surprise at the end with the kidnapper being a whole different suspect. I thought I was reading a book by Carol Higgins Clark but liked this Clark better. She writes very well and kept me turning the pages as each chapter was short as in James Patterson books. Kept me reading and wondering what would happen next.

this was my first read of Mary Jane Clark's work and I was very impressed and will look for more of hers...this was a fun read because it had the right amount of suspense and the characters were all strong....touching on subjects that are topical as cutting and eating disorders it was very believable....

a drop dead frightening novel about a town where teenage girls are disappearing, where an idylllic beach community is terrorized, and where one reporter must get to the truth to protect her family.
There are so many possiblities, you'll be guessing right up until the end.

Fast read that I didn't want to put down. I kept thinking that I knew 'Who Done It', and changing my mind. As with other books by this author, I was wrong in the end. Loved this book and look forward to reading more by Mary Jane Clar!

Good book, interesting read
Only an okay book. The plot tried to keep you guessing and I suppose the ending was a bit of a surprise but it was just kind of corny. I suppose if you like mysteries though, it is worth a try.

Diane hopes to find time to relax with her kids, but the story gets complicated when another young woman disappears. Then another. The locals are frightened, fingers are pointing in all directions, and Diane is forced to spend all her time working the story.
What Diane doesn't know is that this news story will place someone a loved one in great danger.
Vivid descriptions throughout the book help to place readers in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, and in the shoes of Clark's well-drawn characters. The action is realistic; if a little slow at times.
Clark also incorporates a timely message about the importance of parents being in touch with their children. The main focus here is on eating disorders--several characters suffer from anorexia in this novel--the signs, and a parent's role. While this is a major theme in this book, it is not overly preachy.
Mystery fans will like this book. Although not a thriller, there is enough suspense to engage the reader as the plot rolls forward, and Clark keeps the reader guessing until the end.

Another suspensful story revolving around the staff and families at Key News. In this plot Clark uses mental illness to set the stage, change it and provide a surprising ending. Very well done. Almost good enough to tempt me to by her next hardback instead of waiting for the paperback! ~ Kim
A great read.
In terms of suspense, this one had me suspecting characters other than the actual 'villian'; in fact, I was dumbfounded when I found out who it was. The story line about eating disorders was played out well and to the point that the reader feels the anguish of the parents of the girls who are suffering. I think that helps keep the reader from guessing who was perpetrating the crimes. A good, solid read that I finished in under 3 days. Definitely a 4-star.
Gotta be honest here, folks. This is supposed to be a "thriller" about abducted women, but when you figure out on pg 30 who the bad guy is, there's not much point going on, especially when the writing is as amateur as this. I couldn't finish this one.
