A witty novel of manners and morals. It has all the hallmarks of a Victoria Clayton book: an engaging heroine, a stately home with eccentric inhabitants, several romantic entanglements for the heroine, unique characters -- both heroes and villans, and a sense of the absurd lurking just below the surface. As usual, characters from this author's other works make cameo appearances. A delightful read start to finish. No one does social comedy better than this author!
