This was a really good, stand alone Western by one of the authors of the "Carpenter And Quincannon" series. I found it to be a page turner. What made it really interesting, in addition to the great story line, was the book has 43 short chapters, each narrated by one of seventeen of the novel's numerous characters.

You might think this would confuse readers, but I found it progressing smoothly. In fact, I'm a little upset Pronzini didn't give the main character his own series. As I'd like to read more about "Give-a-Damn" Jones.
