Good description of the British presence in India's North-West Frontier and the tensions between the Pathan and English.

This is a historical mystery set in a British outpost in India in the early 1900's. Different and quite good.

Lousy story and unbelievable characters. Only read this if absolutely nothing better is available.

Another example of the hero solving the crime but not arresting anyone.

This won the 2004 Dagger award as Best Historical Crime novel. And it is a terrific read. Lots of plot twists, interesting and unusual setting. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes whodunits...or historical fiction.

Excellent continuation of this series about Sandilands. The detective is "forced" by higher authorities to travel to a remote British outpost in India. The descriptions of the land and atmosphere as well as the people who inhabit and the visitors of the land are outstanding. Twists and turns occur that have you wondering if you are really reading a book or watching a detailed murder-thriller. The reasons behind the actions in the book are revealed and only seen at the end. A great story.
