For people who are familiar with Dragonlance Books, Dalamar is Raistlin Majere's assistant. This book is basically the story of Dalamar, who is an elf who becomes a Dark mage. I enjoyed this book very much.

I read the majority of the pre-Third Age Dragonlance novels. Raistlin and Dalamar were among my favorite characters.

However, this book is a complete disappointment. It is not logically consistent with the rest of the series, or the setting at all. The character of Dalamar is not at all like his previous portrayals. For a standalone novel, it is acceptable. If you're a fan of the setting, steer clear.
