The first book of the Dragon Riders of Pern series. The last remaining queen dragon has lain a golden egg (a queen)and only waits for it to hatch, so she can go "between". F'lar and the other dragon riders search the land for fitting young women to present to the new queen dragon. F'lar finds more than he bargained for in 'Lessa.
This books is SOOO good, if you enjoy Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I have read it over and over and over (oh, don't worry, I have another copy.) Terrific!

One of the best of the Pern series, enjoyable by both adults and young adults. A wonderful read!
This first book of the series has caught my attention. Her story flows nicely for all ages. I recommend this for the young and old readers alike. I can't believe I have waited so long to start into this fantacy world -- I should have checked it out when I was in high school! I like the strong main character -- she is great. The secondary characters are interesting too and I hope to learn more about them as the series goes on. It made for a great read-aloud book.
Pern like you've never seen it before...
While many scenes, characters, and bits of story are cut from this adaptation of the first novel of the Dragonriders of Pern series, the beautiful illustrations make this book absolutely worth it for a diehard fan of the series. The pictures are beautiful, the dragons amazingly done.
People interested in this comic collection should definitely read the novel first, just so you know the whole story, before picking up this up and enjoying the eye-candy.

This is a Del Rey 1968 edition, 1977 printing (First Canadian printing, 1971). I believe this is the original text, as the dragons have ears. After the appearance of the beautiful Michael Whelan cover paintings, references to dragon ears were removed from the text.
Great stuff by a master ... entire series is enjoyable.
Well ilustrated Paperback graphic novel of one of the Pern series mainstays.
This is about Lessa of Pern, whose proud line, Ruatha, was wiped out by Lord Fax when he attacked her hold. Gifted with power, independent, Lessa had fought singlehandedly and secretly to drive Fax out of the hold. Now the dragonmen had come to Ruatha, and with all her strength Lessa willed them to kill Fax, forgetting she would thus betray herself to the dragons and to their riders....
Book 1 of a science fiction / fantasy trilogy of people and dragons struggling to protect their planet from a deadly solar threat.
