If being a teenager wasn't hard enough, think if you had to choose between your parents' differentiating environmental causes. That's exactly what Cute Eats Cute's Sam is going through, watching his mom rally for the protection and preservation of a local park's deer population (and turn Wiccan), and seeing his dad aim his hunting rifle with those deer in his crosshairs. Add on peer pressure from a few close friends (including a girl he dreams about) to support the former, and the love for a baby brother who just wants to be with his mom, and you've got a pretty confusing situation. You can't help but feel for Sam, who at any time is being pulled in what seems to be fifteen different directions. His search to understand each person's view is admirable, and the struggle he goes through to do it, even more so, especially when his own life and death come into play. And all while battling out-of-control teenager hormones? Well, that's just downright heroic. An excellent read with a value for all different perspectives.
