Charlotte Macleod and her Professor Peter Shandy foray successfully into fantasy. Visiting Wales with two of his buddy's Stott manages to traipse via a giant hogweed (wild asparagus)epidemic into a century long past peopled by weird, flamboyant individuals who have a lot of trouble with each other and the giant hogweed. Lots of fun, saucy, with a penchant for portraying us like we really are.

Weird, but interesting.

OK, OK, maybe just a little far-fetched, but still a good read!!

This is probably the weirdest of Charlotte MacLeod's strange stories. Her sense of humor is as apparent as ever, and it is extremely clever writing. Referrals to the Chronicles of Narnia and other English fantasy tales occur as Peter Shandy and his professor friends help England and the world get rid of the giant hogweed. They find themselves in another time, in another place and it is a farcical British fantasy story. It is different, but it is still Charlotte MacLeod!

I think these you have to judge the book by its cover.

MacLeod goes off into fantasy land with this one...I expected more of her enjoyable Shandy series, and instead got a mishmash of "Olde Englishe" dream sequence. Got far enough in to think "WTF??", skipped ahead to discover the whole book continued that way. Stopped reading and posted it...I hope whoever's interested reads the review first, I would be sad to do to them what was done to me.
