Curious George at the Fire Station
Curious George at the Fire Station
Author: Margret Rey, H. A. Rey
This time George is in serious trouble. When he rings the bell on the fire engine, the firemen think there's a real fire. It seems that a fire station is no place for a curious monkey -- unless that monkey is George, who can do what none of the firemen can to make a quick rescue.

George is a good little monkey and always very curious.....This is my 3 year old daughter's favorite book. She never tires of it. I find it refreshing that it hasn't been edited from the original version and still includes a lot of things that nowadays people might deem "un-PC" like George going to jail for a bit and talking about a skinny and a fat police man. These stories are delightful and timeless.

I used to love this book when I was a child. I still do, even though it's totally not PC anymore! George is inhumanely captured and brought to a zoo. Along the way, he falls overboard from a ship, is arrested and jailed, smokes a pipe, steals, is lost, and eventually finds a home in the zoo. If I had known then what I know now, I would've been traumatized by this book! The simple, colorful drawings are entrancing, though, and small children just get sucked into the adventures and don't know how scary the story really is!
