The premise and story had great promise, but fell a bit short. Mostly for me it was the author's writing style that was very distracting, going off on long descriptive tangents discribing people or events that had little or nothing to do with the plot, while in some cases entertaining, certainly distracting from the story. As for the mystery part, very weak in deed, altough Jillian knows who did the deed, thanks to all the cats who witnessed it, there is really very little plot development towards solving or proving the murder. The author then wraps everything up, with a little bit of vigilatnte justice, only to find out that given a few more days, the sherriff would have wrapped it all up easily.
The characters are great, real and very likeable, it was a plesant and very quick read, more about Jillian and her life than a cozy mystery.

This book was not the type of book I usually read, but the story line sounded interesting. It was quirky, the cats were fun and there were some great LOL moments. A different type mystery. She writes like I talk, going off into tangents that really have nothing to do with the story, but for the most part it was a fun read. One thing I enjoyed about the book was 'the story within the story' - THE KISS.

I absolutely loved this book! She was hit by lightning and is then able to talk and understand cats. The cats end up helping her to uncover a mystery. I will have to read more of Jackson's books if they are as good as this one was.

My first Melanie Jackson, but by no means my last! I loved this book and intend to seek out all of her other novels.
A recent widow on the edge of suicide is hit by lightning and is suddenly able to communicate with cats. She uses her newfound ability to help solve the murder of one of her neighbors. A new love interest and a special bond she forms with a feral cat slowly bring her out of her grief.

Really liked this book! Not my usual fare but a good read! As contemporary romance goes this one gets a thumbs up!
