The Cuckoo's Calling kept me guessing up to the end. Galbraith created interesting characters who are more than one dimensional. At the risk of sounding like a complete prude, I do wish talented writers would realize they do not need to pepper every page with profanity, particularly the f-bomb. It isn't needed; it doesn't enhance the story; and no one would miss it if it weren't there.

The other reviewers have covered my thoughts well for this book but I'll add some personal thoughts. I enjoyed this book. There are times that Mrs. Rowling shows off her expansive vocabulary a bit much and there are a lot of the "f" words throughout but it was a fun read and I didn't see all facets of the conclusion coming. I would enjoy reading more books with these characters.

I mostly enjoyed this book. The main characters were well developed and intriguing. I felt there were too many superflous characters and they muddied the story. There were a few parts I was slogging through but for a majority of the book it was very engaging and fun to read. I really hate when an author brings in a bunch of random facts at the end of the mystery to solve the crime and that's exactly what happened here, however the main characters are the backbone of the story and are brought full circle. Despite these flaws, by the end of the book I was looking forward to reading Book 2.
