This is my least favorite Mrs. Malory book. Although I enjoyed getting more information about her and her son, Michael, and the introspection is interesting - the story line was improbable. Based on a very slight peripheral relationship, she (alone) decides the death is a murder, and through more mental "what ifs" than investigation, plods to a solution. The series improves.

Enjoyed this story very much, getting to know Mrs. Malory better with each book.

I found this book to be slow starting.....Mrs. Malory is visiting old friends and using Oxford's library to do some research. Her godson Tony works at the library and weeks before found the body of Gwen Richmond under toppled over bookshelves. The police have deemed it an accident, but Tony does not agree. When he explains his reasons to his godmother, she decides to take on the investigation into the death......was an ok read.

Gwen Richmond's fatal burial under a collapsed shelf of rare books had forced the library to close and cast a pall over the university's sweet April days.
