Liked the plot, didn't like the editing. This is one of those books where it appeared the author was trying to meet a publisher's word count or page count requirement. There was so much reiteration in this book - how many times can Maura mention that her Grannny was from this area of Ireland? I noticed the same phrases repeated within a few chapters, and in one case a whole paragraph was repeated a few pages later, to the detriment of the story's flow.

IMHO, there could have been more resolution in the post-climax. Did Maura ever get a new coat and boots? Did her guests arrive home safely? How will her finances recover? And what about her cat?

That said, I've liked this series until now, and will likely give it one more chance by reading the next book in line.

This is a lightweight, laid-back mystery with an unsophisticated writing style. No excitement here, just a boring little story.

Maura inherited a bar in a small village of Leap in County Cork, Ireland and is bracing for a big snow storm. She is clueless what to do and wants to provide shelter and food for her bar customers. When a woman accused of murder 20 years previous in this small town comes in out of the wind and snow, the patrons become a jury and Maura plays defense.

A quick read if you have nothing else pending.

An unusual blizzard has trapped several people in Maura Donovan's Irish pub. The power has failed and although food is running low, the pints of beer are plentiful. Among the stranded is the infamous murder suspect, Diane Caldwell. She was accused twenty years earlier of murdering her husband's lover, but was never arrested. Now she wants to tell her side of the story, and Maura convenes a court of inquiry among those sheltering in the pub. An interesting mystery that looks to solve just who the murderer really was.
