This is a sensitively written first-person account of a young mother facing death & the conflicting decisions & emotions in what to do with her young daughter. I found the story complelling & the ending up-lifting. All of us who proclain ourselves Christians should be able to face death with the same courage as the main character. It's a story that will stay in your heart for a long time even as you know that this is a story that needs to be passed from woman to woman, friend to friend.

From reading the other reviews, I feel like a jerk, but I did not like this book. At All. It was a quick read, but it was extremely predictable and truly far fetched. I am a single mother of two young boys and dying young and leaving them behind is my biggest fear. I am a single mom because my husband died at a young age from cancer. I have been a caretaker and I live with this story in my heart daily...and not one word of this book rang true to me.
On top of that, the writing was cliqued and the author tried too hard. Many parts were awkward. Further, religion played a large role in this book and had I known that, I probably would not have picked it up...I am not anti-religion or anti-God, I just don't like to have it foisted upon me when I don't expect it. So, thought I'd pass that information along.

Want to read a book that is so predictable it isn't funny? Then read this one--everything on every page is predictable, nothing rings true, most of the characters are not likable, the only one I liked was Craig, I got about half way then skipped and skimmed because it was too predictable and the situation did not ring true for me.

Wow this book was so fantastic. A book that you can not put down. Shows how far a mother will go for her child. The book will have you thinking long after you finish it.

Make sure you have your tissues handy. If you only read a few books this year, make sure this is one of them

I would give this TEN (10) stars if possible.

I love to read and have read hundreds of books. Rarely does a book touch me the way this story did. Holmes does an amazing job describing emotions and scenes to make one feel they are IN that spot, feeling those emotions.

The story is difficult - yet hauntingly beautiful. The REAL love shown in this story is almost beyond comprehension - oh that we all could love in such an unselfish way. What a beautiful world we would live in!

The story of a single mother and her young daughter - back home under difficult circumstances. It is a must for anyone that enjoys a beautiful love - true, agape love - story.

This was an absolutely beautiful book. Your heart just breaks for Jenny and her whole family, but by the end of the book you find yourself sighing with contentment over God's divine Providence.

Kudos to Gina Holmes on her debut novel.

Wow...one of the best books I've read! If you are only able to read a couple of books this busy holiday season, make Crossing Oceans one of them. It is a beautifully written novel. Definitely a must!

Wow, this book had me in tears by the time I'd finished. It really makes you think about life and the love between a mother and her child. I don't really have words to explain the emotions that this made me feel. Very good read!

Excellent book, but it broke my heart. A young mother is dying and has to make plans for her daughter. I would recommend highly.
