This is the 3rd book Ive read by Saare (all purchased by me) and in each book Ive read, Ive thoroughly enjoyed the characters in her book. Crimson Moon is no exception to the great character development.

In the beginning of Crimson Moon, you find Emma alone, with just her grandmother. Even Emmas grandmother is not truly with her since she suffers from Alzheimers and does not remember much of Emma when Emma is able to visit her. Emmas mom is dead and her father is not in the picture. Sounds sad right? Well Emmas life does not stay lonely for long. Emmas innocent visit to a local diner suddenly opens Emmas up to a world she never knew existed.

Saving Emma from a half-breed zombie like vampire (think uninvited Diner guest), you get to meet Caleb. Caleb is one hot (dark skinned, blue eyes, tall, muscular) werewolf. You also meet Billy (with some of the best manners ever), Sarah (think sweet big sister) and Derek (think frat boy prankster). Immediately, and I do mean immediately, you sense an attraction between Emma and Caleb. This is not just your damn, he is hot attraction but your we are bonded attraction. So, you are thinking, hot werewolf/human love story right? Well, you are only half-right. We still need to discuss one other supernatural creature- the vampire. See, the werewolves are not saving Emma at random; they are saving Emma from vampires that want to steal Emma because Emma has some relatives that happen to be vampire royalty. This particular vampire royal figured out Emma might be in trouble soon (good timing on his part) and enlisted the werewolves to help find/save/kick half-breed vampire butt. What this vampire royal did not anticipate/want/desire is one said werewolf-Caleb to go all moon crazy over his Emma and for Emma to feel the same way about Caleb. Later, we add in Trent, a very hot, initially arrogant vampire who becomes a mentor and potential love interest to Emma.

What I loved about this book-
I loved the characters and the story. I literally could not stop reading at the beginning. It really is an enjoyable story and I found myself liking Emma, wanting Caleb for myself and hoping that Emma stayed away from the bad guys long enough to be with the one she loved. There were twists that really surprised me. One that came ¼ of the way through the book and another that came at the end.

What I did not like about the book-
Emma goes from a lonely, boring life to being physically injured and surrounded by werewolves and vampires within days. She takes it all a bit too easily. Maybe I am a big baby but I do not care how hot the guy in front of me is, if he tells you he is a werewolf, Im going to freak out!

Will I buy the next book?
I definitely will. I look forward to reading the continuing story of Emma and.. (not going to give it away who she ends up with at the end).
