This is very well done. Stella has no memory of a childhood tragic event in which she survived, but her six year old friend disappeared. Eleven years later on the anniversary of that event, a child's body is found with similarities and Stella feels a responsibility to uncover the truth of what happened. With a touch of the supernatural and a small town filled with superstition, she and her friends discover what makes a monster into a monster. Some creepy moments and tension that kept me turning pages, but it is more of a mystery that leaves you a bit haunted.
