First of all ... I am a scifi fan. So color me surprised when parts of this book started resembling a treatise on Star Trek's medical tech (you know, 4th movie - The Voyage Home). Most of the gadgets and techniques described meet with less critical vigor than descriptions of the pot holes in today's modern medical practices and industrial complex.

However this book is worth reading, if only to get a glimpse of what some of the coming paradigm shift MIGHT look like. We can but hope some of this comes true, instead of being derailed or abandoned.
