The book is a fantastic read. The backdrop is the Axial Age in which a major shift in religion and philosophy occurs across Southern Asian from China to the Mediterranian. Vidal explores this shift through the eyes of Cyrus Spitama, an imaginary grandson of Zoroster.

The book is intelligent, engaging, and breath-taking in its scope. I highly recommend it.
