The title and cover are a little misleading. I thought this book was going to be a practical how-to book on balancing work and family. Even though it turned out to be more research driven, I found myself intrigued by the author's research and agreed with her findings. Unless you are writing a paper on this topic, don't waste your time on this book. I will give you the book summary. 1) Don't put marriage or children on hold for the sake of a career. The author interviewed lot's of women who put marriage and babies on hold, and they ended up with great careers, but single and/or childless. 2) You need to have a goal as to how many children you want to have. Then, you need to plan accordingly, so that you give yourself time to space them out before you turn 35. Do not wait until you are 35 to start having children. Most women who do this end up with fertility problems or they have other risk factors. 3) You can balance a career or family. There are lots of opportunities for professional working women such as companies with family friendly policies, and part-time careers.
