Very suspenseful...it had me guessing what was going to happen from the very beginning.
Katie DeMaio, a bright, ambitious, attractive young prosecutor in a small New Yersey town, recently widowed. A driving accident brings her to Westlake Hospital with minor injuries, where she sees-or thinks she sees a familiar figure carrying a woman's body to his car in the middle of the night. When the woman is found dead in her bed the next day and declared a suicide, Katie determines to find out the truth, and soon uncovers the hidden scandals and fears in the lives of a number of people who seem, on the surface, to be solid, respectable citizens.
Yet another awesome story from Mary Higgins Clark. A good read on a rainy day.
Great story. Love Mary Higgins Clark, she is always at the top of her game.
Very good one! MHC does it again!
love all of her books. if you enjoy a mystery, you have to read Higgins-Clark
another mystery involving doctors but this ones invovles a ferility doctor and a hospital. all her books are up all nighters, keep you guessing
A very good read. Just love how the words were so smooth to read. A very relaxing book to read. Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors.
A minor road accident landed county prossecutor Katie DeMaio in Westlake Hospital. That night, from her window, she thought she saw a man load a woman's body into the trunk of a car...or was it just a nightmare induced by a sleeping pill?
One of her earlier books, but still classic Mary Higgings Clark.
A minor traffic accident put Katie DeMaio, the county prosecutor in the hospital. Looking out the window she thinks she she a body put in the trunk of a car, is it real or the medicine. What did she see and what does if have to with the disapperance of DR. Highley, famous for his work "curing" infertile women.
Another excellent book by Mary Higgens Clark!
A page turner! A fast read!
I just can not stop reading Mary Higgins Clark. This book was a really good read as were all of her books I have read.
A minor road accident landed county prosdcutor Katie DeMaio in Westlake Hospital. That night, from her window, she thought she saw a man load a woman's body into the trunk of a car..or was it just a sleeping pill-induced nightmare? At work the next day, Katie began investigating a sucide that looked more like murder. Initial evidence pointed elsewhere, but medical examiner Richard Carroll saw a trail leading Dr. Edgar Highley. He suspected that the famous doctor's work "curing" infertile women was more than cibtriversuak-that it was deceitful, depraved, and often deadly. But before Richard could tell Katie his fears, she left the office for the weekend and an appointment for routine surgery...in Dr.Highley's operating room.
An oldie, but a goodie. Classic Clark.
Another great book by Mary Higgins Clark. I really enjoy this author.
Typical Mary Higgins Clark book. I always enjoy them. Fast moving and easy to get lost in this book
Excellent book but I am a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark!
Did she really see someone put a body in a trunk.
This book was written in 1988 when she was really writing books and not just knocking them off in rapid succession. Very suspenseful, quick read and a Mystery Guild Main Selection.
a great thriller book!
A very good read
My very first MHC book. Fast paced and character development moves. Plot good. BUT, we knew who the bad guy was from the beginning and it took the fun out of reading a mystery. Book only for MHC fans. Rad about a hundred times in fair condition. Anyone recommend a 5 star MHC book for a newbie to her work?
Wow can this woman write a mystery! This is the third or fourth novel that I have read of hers and I have to admit that she has quickly become one of my favorite Mystery writers. Every single one of the books that I have read by her I have not been able to set down, at all! They keep you interested and they keep you in suspense. You are never quite sure who is the villain or really what is going to happen. Love it! I will keep reading until I read every single one of her published books! Thanks to Mary Higgins Clark! Nobody could ever replace her writing. She's like a V.C. Andrews but in another genre!
a good tale.
I thought it was excellent! I love all of her books though.
Mary Higgins Clarks always keeps you on your toes in suspense.
My husband said he managed to read it, that was about all.
She thought it was a nightmare she wanted to believe it was a nightmare! Under her hospitol window, she thought she'd seen a man heave a body into the trunk of a car. But recovered and back at work as county prosecutor, Katie DeMaio discovered the nightmare was real...and just beginning.
She wanted to believe it was a nightmare...
Under her hospital window, she thought she'd seen a man heave a woman's body into the trunk of a car. But recovered and back at work as county prosecutor, Katie DeMaio discovered the nightmare was real...and just beginning. She headed the murder investigation and it led her to a brilliant, controversial doctor who "cured" infertile women. Was something happening at Westlake Hospital that violated the most sacred laws of man and nature? In two days, katie herself was scheduled for routine surgery. As she faced the scalpel, would she find herself fighting not only for the truth...but for her life?
