I actually read another book in this series first. I liked the other book so much I came back and read all the books of the series in order! This was a pretty good book, with a good story. I liked most of the people in the story even the bad guy/s. They were well thought out and for the most part very likable. Although I thought it was kind of predictable, and I knew exactly how it would end, I still was hooked and couldn't quit reading. Good story for any one who likes mysteries or woman detectives.

Nonstop romantic/ suspense by a master storyteller. She also does not have to use excessive sexual and/or gory scenes to sell a book.

Another GREAT Catherine Coulter book...
Suspence to the very end...
Great reading

Great reading

Typical Coulter - - lots of twists and turns, interesting characters and great story line. Tight and fast reading. A town is systematically killing people and into this comes an FBI agent tracking a totally different crime. How will the two mesh? Read this great book and find a little romance too.

From one clue to the next, Coulter keeps you reading. Then with her usual florish - surprises you with a twist you never expect. Super!

I've read some of the Dillon Savich books but wanted to read the first one he was in-before Sherlock. It more than lived up to my expecations!

The first book in Catherine Coulter's FBI series - this was a pretty good read. Held my interest and had very little down time, lots of twists and turns. I do prefer a slightly more "believable" story, but this was good. Looking forward to her other books in this series.

One of her best FBI Thrillers with good, solid, likeable characters.

Fantastic thriller/mystery by Catherine Coulter. Featuring the handsome FBI Special Agent James Quinlan and the on-the-run Sally Brainerd, daughter of a Washington D.C. bigwig. It takes place in D.C. and in Oregon and just when you think you know what's going on, Coulter throws a wrench in. It is a fun read!!!

a good story but too much lovey dovey and not enough grit

I absolutley love the FBI series w/Sherlock and Savich! I like all of Coulters Romatic Suspense novels!
Great reading, read it in one day.
"So perfect, like a Hollywood set," FBI agent James Quinlan thinks as he enters The Cove, a seemingly tranquil, picture-postcard town situated on the Oregon coast. Quinlan has been on Sally Brainerd's trail since her arms-dealing father, Amory St. John, was murdered. Sally is the key witness, and it's Quinlan's job to bring her in. Quinlan, whose cover is working as a PI hired to find an old couple who had mysteriously disappeared three years earlier, quickly learns that when he starts asking questions, bad things start happening. Coulter (The Nightingale Legacy), whose contemporary suspense novels are, unfortunately, few and far between, delivers a fast-paced, solidly structured read despite the occasionally cartoonish characters.
This books was awesome!!!
I was disapointed in this book. The story was good, but the writing was irritating (the dialog wasn't always believable). I know I've read Coulter before because one of the characters was familiar from another book, but I don't remember this style of writing.
Great book!
Enjoyed it! Classic Coulter
Towards the end it felt like she added in a lot of stuff that was unnecessary to the story, but otherwise I enjoyed this book.
1st book in the FBI Series. A very good read!!!
Good Coulter book. Would recommend reading.
This was a very intense, exciting story. It grabbed my interest from page one - a real page turner that I couldn't put down. I really like this author.
PRETTY GOOD
Mystery, murder, and sex. Interesting reading.
This was a good read with many twists and turns in the plot.
Part of the FBI thriller series!! I thought it was great.
I read the #8 FBI Thriller before this one, so I was somewhat familiar with the characters. This was truly a book with a surprise ending! Combination of romance and mystery.
Romantic suspense
Excellent. This was the first Coulter I read and I was hooked.
A very scarey romantic mystery
The Cove is a small town Sally escapes to after the murder of her father. She doesn't remember what happened that night, but she very well may have killed him. Or perhaps her mother killed him. Either way, both she and her mother are safest if Sally runs away. At least that's what she thinks. An FBI agent named James Quinlan easily tracks down Sally and begins to work his magic on her trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle leading up to her father's murder. In the meantime, strange things happen in The Cove which can't easily be explained and James finds he has another mystery on his hands.
My description probably sounds boring, but this book was anything but. The pace is quick, which I've discovered I prefer in books. The mysteries are plentiful and kept me guessing. Sometimes I had aspects of it figured out and other times I was shocked to discover the truth. Overall, it was a pretty good suspense book with a little romance thrown in for good measure.

Coulter has a way with words.
I read this book a long time ago - but I remember it being a really good suspense story and a page-turner. I recommend it!
Some real twists in the plot kept me guessing.
Romantic suspense!
Book was so boring I couldn't finish it. Too bad I had to give it at least 1/2 star. It's not even that good.
This book kept me going, I did not put it down.
Good story. First book in Catherine Coulters FBI Thriller line.
The 1st of the FBI Series. I enjoyed this one very much - a unique, well developed plot that kept me guessing!
Truly enjoyed this one.
pretty predictable, but an enjoyable , if unbelieveable read
This is a good book. I had somehow ended up with two copies of the same book. So I am posting this book back on line for someone else to enjoy!
This books was very good. The plot and the subplot came together nicely at the end. I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book. Kept me interested all the way. Went on to get the next one.

This book was very captivating. I am looking for Bk 2.
This is the first book in the FBI series that Catherine Coulter penned. I came back and bought this first book in the series, as I enjoyed her #3 book "The Target" so much that I had originally bought in a book club years ago. In a previous review I gave "The Target" top billing as it was enjoyable, well written, and a very fast read with a lot of suspense. Had I started with "The Cove" I am not so sure I would have went out and purchased more of Coulter's books. So perhaps you should do as I have, if your a first timer reading Catherine Coulter go pick up book #3 in the series first and decide from there. The Cove's story takes us to a small town where Sally goes to hide with her aunt caught up in her own troubles-mainly her father's murder, and she ends up finding more problems than she started out with in the Cove. The story and concept were good and there was just enough to keep me going on, but I didn't care for the way it was written as it was distracting the way the author got cute with her characters and prose. I do have several more in the series and I hope they are more like "The Target" and less like "The Cove".
Kept me on the edge of my seat. Couldn't put it down.
