Great motivational book for those beginning to run. This is one of those books I plan on reading over and over again. I would recommend it for anyone that is a runner or wants to be a runner. It doesn't matter whether you are at the back of the pack or the first to cross the finish line. You are still a runner.

Okay, I have to be honest - this book did not (nor any other, for that matter) turn me into a runner. In fact, I just can't stand running, but I tried since my husband runs and I thought it might be something we could do together. BUT, that said, Bingham presents his getting started approach in a fun, light-hearted manner that's enjoyable, even if you're like me and can't seem to get started and stay that way. :)

Great encouragement for the beginning runner aka former couch potato.
I loved this book. Very lighthearted and gets you motivated even if it is only walking. When I read this I did run, I wasn't pretty, but it got me to get out and reach my goals each day.

Well, just the opposite of reviewer Donna H. This book gave me that little extra push I needed to take the decision to start running and follow through. Two things he presents (and elaborates) on the book made me take the plunge: If you've never been a runner, or any other kind of athlete for that matter, there's no other way to go in endurance, fitness and health but up. And what I consider the most important reason, running is not so much about competing against others, but competing against yourself and your own vices: laziness, complacency, quitter attitude, etc. I've been going to the track for almost two months now, and even though I still have a long way to go to finish running a 5k, I'm doing it! Maybe I'll give an update when I finish my first 5k ;-)
