It is shocking to find so much information stuffed in so few pages. I learned there are only 842 people in the Vatican City State (who knew?). There are 4 European states with limited recognition (some are disputed): Kosovo (declared independence from Serbia), Transnistria (a buffer between Moldova and Ukraine), Luhansk (land-locked region totally surrounded by Ukraine), and Donetsk (a disputed, industrial city in eastern Ukraine).

Sitting at a computer, I had a great time learning more geography with this nifty little book. On each continent, this book serves up the official info on states, capitals, land area, and population. Then each continent has some unrecognized states and states with limited recognition. I looked them up and learned lots about strife in other nations. There are 7 areas in Somalia (alone) that are seeking independence.

This is an all-color book with such interesting facts as the 10 biggest countries by area; the 10 smallest countries by area, the 10 biggest and smallest countries by population. Next, it offers the flags of each individual US state, its capital, area, population, and when it became a state.

This is a great little book but frankly, it would have a narrow range of uses. I can see someone buying it to learn flags of the world; flags, states, and their capitals; or specific information for geography class. I like the way the info is presented.
