This is my third cozy mystery and per my newly acquired definition of cozies... it fits. It's themed, it has interesting characters, it has an adorable little dog, it has a classic "who done it", it includes food, and its nestled in a quaint little community. I like Livie and Maddie and Bertha. Livie's mom is busy and quirky and I like that too. Spunky is a typical yorkie and since I'm very fond of dogs I appreciated that the author got her dog personality/characteristics right! I was a little surprised by their eating... a lot of cookies, wine, and pizza. That's just not typical of thirty year olds with careers... makes them sound more like college kids. Also, everytime they made cookies they made it sound like they just made a plain ole sugar cookies and then went crazy with the decorating. That sounds a little boring to me. You can use cookie cutters and still make different kinds of cookies. She should have included more variety... and cookie recipes!! Finally, the theme has a lot of potential but she should include more history and info about the cookie cutters, especially the antique ones. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will definitely read the next one!!

I enjoyed this first in this series very much. It is reader friendly, funny in places, has a small dog, friendly people, fun main characters and seems to have a possibility of a continuing series of stories. I look forward to number two. Small town dynamic once again, a favorite venue of mine to read about.
