Book was published in the late 1990's, with the coming of the common-currency (Euro) in mind. The overviews of each region help show the contrasts of a (theoretical) "single Europe", but for me, the parts didn't make a whole; Fraser's concluding chapter ("How to be a European") seemed an anti-climax. Dated premise, with well-written essays.
