This is a great book in the series! This book was definitely an emotional one, especially because the reader feels that they "know" Eve now through the series. We see her striped of what she knows. Another great story about Eve's determination and Roarke's love.

After finding a street sleeper dead in his crib, his heart surgically removed, it doesn't take Eve long to figure out that there's some type of conspiracy involved within the medical community. When the threats become personal and Eve is forced to hand over her weapon and her badge, her life takes a turn for the worse.
This is a very emotional Eve & Roarke read, and highly recommended!

I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

GREAT BOOK THIS IS NUMBER 9 IN ROBBS IN DEATH SERIES
If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.

I think this one was the best yet. Really loved every page.
I enjoyed this book.
Loved it! I am re-reading every book in this series and find the characters engaging, the situations fascinating, the passion between Dallas and Roarke just wonderful. Also, the since the series is set in the (not-too-distant) future, it's fun to see how the author has speculated on "things to come."

This particular book series completely draws you in from the first sentence of each book. This one is no different. There is of course,always the suspense of the unsolved crime as the story progresses, but each successive book contains the continuing personal life of each character, most importantly, Eve and her husband Roarke. These two are the reason, I'm positive, we all will keep reading to the last book in the series!!
I started this series backwards, but of all of them this was so far my favorite.

Another good addition to the "In Death" series.
As great as all the J.D. Robb books. I love them for the mystery but also for the romance between the lady cop and the very rich entrepreneur.

Someone is killing the homeless and stealing body parts. A sidewalk sleeper is found with a hole in his chest where his heart used to be. The incision and surgery were done by someone with a medical background...someone who has done this many times before. Lt. Eve Dallas is assigned the case and is soon tracking a serial killer. She soon discovers that the body parts that are being harvested are diseased and not the kind of organs a doctor would use for a transplant. As Eve investigates, she runs into trouble with a cop whose shoddy investigation has missed some major clues. Now this detective is making trouble for Eve...the kind of trouble that may cause Eve her badge.
Another great addition to the In Death series. On top of the murder mystery, we get to see how Eve handles the possibility of losing her job. And, we also see Roarke dealing with the situation in only the way Roarke can do. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

All of the 'In Death' books are great.
It is fun to follow the lives of Detective Eve Dallas and her husband who just happens to be extremely rich and doesn't mind helping her out but he prefers to do it just under the radar of the "correct" way to access data, etc. A great series of over 30 books and you won't want to miss any.

Wonderful development in the Eve-Roarke story. It was great to see Eve vulnerable and shaken at her core but become stronger.
