Despite the death of her mother, the author juggled school and care of the house.After college, the author became ill and had to be hospitalized. She recovered with the help of an excellent psychiatrist, was able to get a position in a biochemistry lab and later managed to go to graduate school and obtain a master's degree and a PhD in neurophysiology. She married, had a daughter and worked in her husband's laboratory, proceeding from Research Associate to Research Professor.
