The unthinkable has been done in this novel--a book has been written which mirrors Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and matches the original in quality. The author had the disadvantage going into the novel of everyone knowing the entire plot; the only thing she has to work with is a different viewpoint on events that have already been told. That she does this, manages to explain Darcy's actions in every particular, and makes the story a tribute to the original is a compliment to the author.
A very quick read that I think for the most part captures what Jane Austen would have had in mind for Darcy. A couple few scenes were a bit gratuitous perhaps but all in all a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

I'll start this review with my own confession, I haven't read Pride and Prejudice. I did watch the BBC mini-series, if that counts. (I'm guessing not.) In any case, I found this to be a really "delightful" book. It is fairly short at 263 pages and reads quickly and easily. The author did not turn the story into a bodice ripper, but allowed it to be a sweet romance. It makes me think I should find myself a copy of the original.

i thought this was a great book. i have been reading several spin off books and this was pretty good. i liked the idea of trying to figure out what is in his head and how he tried to fix his manner. I think the author did an excellent job.

Probably my favorite of all the "Darcy's view" books I have read; this one was wonderful and truly gives you the impression of his anguish and love at the same time. Excellent!
