I really enjoyed this book. It takes a hard look at the paradox that is life in the Delta area of Mississippi. On one hand you have Southern Hospitality at its best when a writer from the North comes to Greenwood MS to cover sports for the local newspaper. Everyone makes him feel welcome. On the other hand there is an undercurrent of racism that always seems to be present. The second half of the book deals with the murder trial of a former high school football star. It is a riveting book; I loved it.
