If youre a Waugh aficionado this collection is a MUST! Its all here: Tactical Exercise, Love Among the Ruins, Charles Ryders Schooldays, Basil Seal Rides Again, his unfinished novel Work Suspended, as well as other stories collected with them, and sundry early works. It is an eclectic set of stories that range from comic to ironic. A few, to wit the opener The Balance, I found to be dull, pointless, and arcane; but overall you will find his rapier wit shining through most of them. Three are compliments to novels. By Special Request is an alternate ending to A Handful of Dust. Incident in Azania returns the reader to Black Mischief. Charles Ryders Schooldays precedes Brideshead, Revisited.
