Widow Kate Blakely knew nothing of love-- but she knew plenty about unhappiness. She'd married young, hoping to put down roots in a safe haven, but her husband had shattered her naivete, and made her fear for her beloved daughter's safety until the day he died.

Shen she first met her new neighbor, Zachariah McGovern, all she saw was danger. But Zach saw much more. He saw beauty, he saw tenderness. He knew he could rescue Kate from her past-- if only she would let him.

What Zach couldn't know, however, was the price that had to be paid to save the woman he loved.

I love a romance with a "wounded" heroine, and this one has endured a horrible marriage. She's very wary of men and the hero has to slowly woo her. Great emotional, dramatic read. Don't miss it. One of C Anderson's best.

I loved this book, it is a real treasure. Very modern, but with old setting. The little girl is adorable. What a great story by one of my very favorite authors. Bonnie A.

The best of Catherine Anderson's older writing. If you really liked Sweet Nothings by Anderson you'll definitely find Coming Up Roses worth 10 bucks or whatever it's going for on Amazon right now. The relationship between the heroine Kate's daughter, Miranda, and the hero is wonderful and convincing. There is a strong domestic violence theme that sort of takes precedence over the romance but to be honest that's par for the course for a Catherine Anderson and the book is fantastic from any angle.

Wow! What a book! I just love Catherine Anderson, but on this one she really out did herself! Her characters are always so real, they have strengths & weaknesses, sometimes they act in ways you completely understand, while others act completely irrationally. In this story Catherine Anderson brings you back in history to a time where spousal abuse was completely unheard of or ignored. She shows us horrific, unimaginable events, but tells them in a way where you see & feel it all. At the same time she seems to wrap you in a protective blanket and tell you it will all be ok. What an author! What a ride! I just couldn't put the book down, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Enjoy!
