I decided to give this a try after I read "Tender at the Bone" and liked it. I wish I had read this book first--this is an autobiography that covers Ruth Reichl's entry and start of her food writing career. Intertwined with some interesting recipes, this book was enjoyable to read. The writing style is easy to read, emotional (without being over the top) and intriguing. I was sad to finish and wished for another . . .

I really enjoyed this food-related autobiography--the combination of the story plus descriptions of food and recipes was great.

I'm a cookbook lover, and enjoy reading about authors who cook. I really liked this book, and found it to be a poignant, yet hilarious collection of stories about people (Reichl) has known and loved, and helped steer her on the path to becoming one of the world's leading food writers.

AUDIO BOOK ON TAPE

Abridged, 6 hours on 4 cassettes

READ BY THE AUTHOR

If you enjoy humor, good food and creative writing, then you should really enjoy this book. I did. This audio book is a very good, lengthy abridgement; I can't imagine that it excluded anything material from the actual book. Unless you have an especially long commute, it should provide you with a full week's worth of entertainment on the road.
