This book was a great escape. It is a fast read, great for afternoon porch reading or boring day at work which is what I encountered.

From the author of "The Beach." "A young man is brutally assaulted late at night on an Underground train by a gang of thugs. Beaten unconscious, he lies for days in a hospital bed--but appears to make a full recovery. On discharge from hospital, Carl picks up threads of his daily life, visiting friends, seeing his girlfriend--until he starts to notice strange leaps in his perception of time, distortions in his experience. Is he truly reacting with the outside world, or might he be terribly mistaken?"

An interesting view on what it is like to be trapped inside of a coma. This book is a very quick read and provides new prespective.

Very quick and interesting read that gives the reader a glimpse into a character's internal thoughts while in a coma. The hardcover edition also has several pages of striking artwork.
