I have a huge gripe about Coulters' Daughter--and I see this pattern with increasing frequency in other romances--is how the heroine, after she's been dumped, wronged, slighted, betrayed, or separated from her hero for weeks, months, and sometimes even years, forgives and takes him back after a single look, touch, kiss, or lame explanation! It's completely frustrating and doesn't make any sense to me. These women are written as independent. Who cares if she slugs him in the face when he comes back into her life? That she jumps into his pants soon afterwards is so unfair to her. I'm not talking about holding a grudge, but come on, will she ever stand up for her own self-worth?

Okay, okay, the sex was truly hot here with all that D/s (not BDSM) thing going on; loved it, loved it. But the big reveal of the secret was rather anticlimatic. Still, I'm stuck on these Coulters and love their whole family dynamic. After I quit rolling my eyes and huffing in exasperation over Callie's quick conversion, I was able to enjoy the rest of the story, which almost stayed on my keeper shelf because of those sizzling hot sexy bits.
