Courtship on the Wagon Train at Its Best

Carolyn Davidson outdoes herself with Colorado Courtship. Finn Carson knew he wanted Jessica Beaumont from the first time he saw her but she was unfortunately the wife of an ill-tempered, abusive man. She was also a soon-to-be mother. When Jessica's husband is killed for the deed to a valuable piece of property, Finn is first in line to court her. She eventually accepts his proposal and the conflict (and loving) begins.
Although there's an underlying theme in this book that could potentially ruin their relationship, the devotion that Finn shows toward Jessica is very, very special and just melted my heart.
We meet a younger Gage Morgan in this book. He thinks Jessica is the woman for him but he'll find later in Carolyn Davidson's The Marriage Agreement that he only thought Jessica was the love of his life.

Wagon train scout Finn Carson fell in love with Jessica Beaumont when he saw her in St. Louis with an ill-tempered brute of a man (her husband). Jessicas husband is killed along the trail (because of the deed to a mine); the wagon master tells Jessica she must marry again or be left along the trail.

Finn Carson starts wooing Jessica immediately and eventually gets her to marry him. However, Finn has a secret that could destroy their relationship. When the secret comes out, Jessica doubts Finns feelings for her.

I was eager to read this story because the plot seemed interesting. However, I soon found that Jessica was TSTL. As a very pregnant woman, she decides to leave Finn and join a departed wagon train of her friends.

Frankly, Finn was too good and too honorable for Jessica. She kept asking Finn why he married her I wondered too.
