What woman wouldn't love a guy who gives her an ultimatum... quit your job or we have no future. Especially when said guy is a cop who puts his butt on the line every day? The story was a four star up until that point. I was very disappointed in the h's decisions and walk-all-over-me persona. Too bad, this story was good, but the romance portion sucked.

At age fifteen, Olivia 'Liv' is kidnapped. While tied up in an old bar, she begs a young boy, Jack, to help her escape. She believes he was either kidnapped, too, or the kidnapper is his father. But he doesn't help, and Liv is murdered.

Now, she worked for eXTreme Investigations, a paranormal detective agency. Since her death, her descent into a portal of darkness and then her subsequent return to the living,Liv has had a rare gift. By touching a corpse, she can see the last two minutes and ten seconds of their life. Because of this gift, she is a valuable asset to the agency.

When Liv hears on the news that a young boy's skeleton has been found in a wall during a fire, she begins to think it could be Jack. She knows that the area the skeleton was found in is the same area and it could be coincidence, but she cannot let it go until she is sure.

When young boys continue to be murdered, Detective Gabe Cooper is the man she goes to. She wants to help, but Gabe doesn't believe in psychics. However, he does begin to believe that her unsolved kidnapping could be linked to the current murders.

Liv, who has tried to live a normal life, questions herself when she believes her kidnapper could be in the area. She's always tried to put her own feelings and fears aside to help others, but can she continue to use her gift to put him away before he tracks her down and finishes what he started twelve years ago?

The bond between Liv and Gabe is fragile, yet strengthens as the plot unfolds. A unique concept with remarkable and complex characters, COLD TOUCH is a welcome addition to the paranormal genre. Chilling murder scenes, remarkable writing and blossoming romance mesh together into a race to find a sadistic killer. Highly recommend!

At the age of fifteen, Olivia Wainwright was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered, only to be revived with the help of another prisoner, Jack. Olivia escaped her tormentor and found help, but Jack was never found. Now twelve years later, the local news tells of the discovery of a boys body found inside a wall of a local tavern. When Olivia goes to the police claiming she knows the identity of the boy, Detective Gabe Cooper is intrigued. He knows she is part of Extreme Investigations, a team of private detectives that use their paranormal gifts to solve crimes. He doesn't believe in any of that ghostly nonsense, but is willing to give Olivia the benefit of the doubt when he finds that her kidnapper may still be at large.

Each member of the team brings a different expertise to the team. Olivia can touch a body and relive the last two minutes and ten seconds of that life, finding out how that person died and sometimes even discovering the identity of their murderer. Gabe sees the pain she goes through during this process, the nightmares she has for days afterward. With her past catching up with her, Gabe and his partner, Ty Wallace, join the Extreme Investigators in solving the murders of several young boys.

This is the second book in Parrish's Extrasensory Agents series. I liked this one even more than the first. I don't know if the author has plans for another book in this series, but if she writes it I will read it. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
