This is just a good old fashioned crime novel. It's fast paced, has believable characters, and enough action to keep one's interest. I have read that the author, Stroby, was influenced by Donald Westlake's Parker character. I can see some parallels but Parker is more amoral than the female lead Crissa Stone. In any case, an enjoyable book. Recommended.
